Educational Excellence

One of our main aims at Scamps is to ensure that by the time your child leaves our Pre-school, they will have received the best possible early year’s education and are ready to excel at primary school.

This focus on child development begins as early as 6 months of age where through our Early Language Development Programme a range of toys and activities are used to encourage and facilitate the development of each young child’s communication skills.

Many studies have shown the importance of the zero to two years, where life experiences play a fundamental role in the “hard-wiring” of the brain, laying the foundation for all intellectual and emotional development to follow.

The nursery is owned and led by Deborah Sutton, BA (Hons) in Primary Education, PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education), NNEB and Numbers Count Accredited Teacher. Deborah was a primary school teacher with more than 18 years experience teaching in some of the North West’s top OFSTED “outstanding” and “Beacon,” primary schools. Deborah has seen first hand how an excellent Pre-school education not only gives children the confidence that helps them to quickly settle into their new environment but also translates into long-term success in school.

To ensure that Scamps Pre-school is of the very highest standard Deborah delivers many of the lessons herself including “Numbers Count” for maths and “Letters and Sounds” for early reading and writing. A lot of thought and planning goes into the daily curriculum, and the children themselves help to decide many of the themes and activities. At this age, it is essential to make the activities fun and engaging, and we encourage children to help to shape their day and their week by including them in the planning process.

We build learning and education into everything we do. But not stuffy bookwork, sat at desks and listening to the teacher. Our education is fun, investigative, exploratory, and exciting. Our aim is to inspire children and build a lifelong love of learning.

The “I Can” philosophy once again uses praise wherever possible to help to build a child’s self-confidence and develop a positive self-image. The ethos of the nursery is to empower children to believe that “I Can” do anything I set my mind too. We discourage negativity in any form and continuously promote the positive aspects in any given situation. When our children graduate from Pre-school, they go on to the next stage in their journey of life as confident, educated, polite little people with a firm inner belief in themselves and their capabilities.

Government published research shows how vital Pre-school education is to your child’s future progress and Scamps offers the very best Pre-school education available. Through the extensive choice of activities in its purpose-built Pre-school and the exploration and discovery in the park, there is no better place for your child to prepare so that they can excel when they go to school.
